The Redondo Beach Wall Will Become A Bike Path

More bike paths connecting Redondo Beach and Hermosa Beach are coming!  The Redondo Beach Wall, on Redondo’s north border with Hermosa’s Strand,  is finally going to be done away with in favor of a new gateway along Harbor Drive and a new public plaza and bike path that will reconnect the two cities at the former wall site.

This new bike path and plaza are part of a much larger Herondo Street/Harbor Drive Gateway Improvement Project which includes safer parking lots, a two-way bicycle track separated by a five-foot buffer from car parking and vehicle lanes, and a six-foot pedestrian sidewalk.  These improvements are going to make the Harbor area even more fun and accessible for locals. A brand-new gorgeous plaza will be the entryway into Redondo from Hermosa and bicyclists and pedestrians will find it easier to get there.

Construction will start October 2014 and be completed by May 2015. There are many other Waterfront/Harbor redevelopment updates in the works including the complete redesign of the Redondo Beach pier, several new hotels right on the water, and dozens of new restaurants and businesses accessible by better and newer bike and walking paths.
